This satellite image of the city of Split, Croatia was taken in 0.87m resolution by Airbus' Vision-1 imagery on 01/01/2019.

Split is the second largest city in Croatia. It is a commercial and transportation hub renowned as one of the world’s most magnificent port cities. A popular tourist destination, Split combines modern architecture with ancient relics. Grand Roman ruins and historic buildings sit next to colossal sports stadiums and modern housing suburbs. Surrounded by the Adriatic Sea, Split is home to marinas and yacht clubs. At the tip of the city is the imposing Forest Park Marjan.

This image precisely shows all the 34 administrative areas of Split (known as ‘kotars’) and the deep blue of the Adriatic Sea surrounding most of the city. The far left shows the Forest Park Marjan leading into the districts of Spinut, Varos, and Meje going from the top of the image to the bottom.

Moving to the top left and going to the right, the viewer can see the Beach Prva Voda and the Spinut Marina leading into the metropolitan areas of Lovret and Bol in the middle of the image. The sports arena, the Stadium Sv. Nikola and Poljud Stadium are visible just off-centre at the top of the image as are the Split shipyards slightly above them. At the bottom middle left near the harbour is the famous Diocletian's Palace and the Split Riva promenade. Moving right is the Marina Zenta, the KBC Split hospital area, and the Žnjan City Beach. Viewing from the bottom right to the top right shows the Žnjan, Mejaši, and Brda kotars with the village of Vranjic at the small peak.

Vision-1 exemplifies our enhanced constellation monitoring capabilities, providing <1m high-resolution imagery with full end-to-end mission operation services. Images can be acquired at 0.87m resolution in the panchromatic band and 3.5m in the multispectral bands (NIR, RGB) with a 20.8km swath width. Orbiting alongside the NovaSAR observation satellite, Vision-1 offers a range of significant opportunities for Opti-SAR applications.

Vision-1 images are ideal for the Defence, Security, Maritime, and Agricultural sectors. The analysis-ready data provided by Vision-1 can be used for urban planning, disaster monitoring, and natural resource monitoring.
