Cairo, Egypt Very High-Resolution Imagery

This image of the Giza Necropolis area of Cairo, Egypt in Pléiades Neo HD15 was a Pléiades Neo acquisition captured on 12/08/2021. 

The image shows the Giza pyramid complex in stunning definition. This part of Cairo is located at the edge of the Western Desert to the southwest of the middle of the city. The three pyramids of the Giza Necropolis dominate the middle of the image while the Fayum Desert Road leads into Street Nine and the Cairo Ring Road to the right. The Sahara Desert takes up much of the left, middle, and bottom of the image. 

The world-famous Great Pyramid of Giza, known as the Pyramid of Khufu, sits in the middle of the image with the Pyramid of Queen Henutsen and the Mortuary Temple of Khufu (the Egyptian name for Cheops) directly on its right side. The Eastern Cemetery is situated on the right of the Great Pyramid, with the green of the Marriott Menahouse Golf Course above it, while the Western Cemetery is located to the left of the main Pyramid.

Below the Great Pyramid and slightly to the left is the Pyramid of Khafre. Panning to its right and zooming in allows for a remarkable view of the iconic Great Sphinx of Giza and the Valley Temple of Khafre immediately in front of it. On the bottom left side of the image, the observer can clearly see the smaller Pyramid of Menkaure, with three smaller pyramids, named the Pyramids of Queens.Continuing to the bottom right and upwards shows the district of Kafrat al Jabal. Housing, vehicles, and trees are visible when the image is zoomed in.
